Verio is a web hosting company. They host websites. Verio's distinction from other brands is that they offer 99% guaranteed uptime for your website and they do this for less money than peer competitors.

I have a theory that most heavy-handed advertising feels manipulative and doesn't really work. Most people don't like feeling manipulated -- especially smart people. Verio's target was business owners and IT decision makers. The success of these ads gave some weight to my theory that if you're going to be heavy handed, be subtle. Direct, but subtle.
